Templeton on the green previously known as the templeton carpet factory is a distinctive building near the people s palace in glasgow scotland opened in 1892. In 1857 a new factory was built on william street later renamed templeton street. James templeton co had several carpet factories in the east end as well as a sister company j j s templeton which made brussels carpets on jacquard looms at premises on crownpoint road. James templeton from paisley patented a chenille axminster process by which he could manufacture more densely patterned and richly coloured carpets.
