When you ve selected your starting point grip onto the carpet with your pliers and tug upward firmly. Don t jerk too hard or you may rip the carpet and have to start over. Using both hands pull the carpet from the vertical riser until the carpet is completely removed. Continue pulling until you ve separated the carpet entirely from one wall.

Use a utility knife or carpet knife to slice the carpet into manageable strips and roll the strips up as you go. Remember to cut the carpet into small manageable strips as you go and place them to the side for proper disposal. Roll or fold the strip secure with duct tape and remove it from the room. If the pliers aren t cutting it you can also use a small crow bar to pry it back.

Grab one corner of the carpet and pull it up from the floor. How do you dispose of carpet. If you reveal a carpet padding beneath keep it in place for now we ll tackle that later on. One way to do this is to lift the carpet away from the floor as you cut.

Once you get a good chunk of it up you can use your hands to start pulling backward. Pull up a few feet of carpet and fold it over. Removing carpet isn t as simple as ripping it up and throwing it out. Use a utility knife with a sharp new blade to cut through the carpet backing.
